The new factory in Boashan, China, was a huge leap forward for Fimet. It ensures that Fimet has room to grow, and presents an opportunity to develop and manufacture better products that ever before.
Solidity. Security. Growth. These are just few words that describe the huge advantages that Fimet obtained after it partnered with one of the biggest companies on the medical field. This collaboration ensures we can continue to develop our products in the most innovative ways.
In 2018, Fimet’s newest product, F1 Arcus, was released for crowds. It’s sleek and minimalistic design was achieved with extensive user research. Among other things, Fimet wanted to be able to offer you a product which has enough space for optional hygienic and other solutions, and has an ergonomic and smooth moving instrument arm system.
The ownership of Fimet Oy changed when both the company’s founding and later shareholders sold the company to a group of investors. At the same time, the company’s largest individual owner, CEO and chairman of the board, Timo Janhunen, retired. Also, at same time the company increased its ownership in its Chinese subsidiary Shanghai Fimet Medical Instrument Co., Ltd. to 50 %.
In 2010, Fimet’s second dental treatment unit, F1 Neo, was published for crowds embodying a leap forward in Fimet’s history. F1 Neo was designed so that the identified limitations of F1 could be developed beyond its capabilities. To this day, F1 Neo’s development continues, and it has become one of our most advanced units.
The first certified quality system was a huge achievement for Fimet. Certification ensured that Fimet could continue to develop its products in the future.
The new factory opening did attract 10000 guests and was presented on satellite television. Finland’s then president Martti Ahtisaari was participating and opened the factory. The new factory helped to stabilize deliveries to eastern part of the world.
In 1995, Fimet won a second place in highly considered Red Dot design competition with F1 treatment unit.
In 1994, Fimet found co-operator from Shanghai, China. A Chinese pharmaceutical group recognized Fimet’s potential, and so started their long collaboration. For Fimet, this opened up new opportunities in East.
In 1991, F1 chair got easy to use, minimalistic frame it deserved. It’s modern user interface and hygienic solutions were something never seen before in the medical field.

Praised F1 dental chair was considered the best in the medical field. To this day, it’s ergonomic solutions are top tier when compared to todays dental chairs.
Fimet’s then CEO and founder Timo Janhunen founded Fimet at Askola in 1981. He was determined to develop a dental unit, that was more modern than anything at the time, both in usability and from design point of view.
