Dental cabinet suction device – Integration of Suction Devices in Dental Units
In dental units, suction devices (suction arm, saliva ejector, and high-volume suction) are usually either integrated into the unit or installed in a cabinet behind the chair. These components are generally manufacturer-specific. The dental unit and suction device are typically made by the same manufacturer and fall under one MDR certification.
This setup is intentional. Suction is normally controlled from the dental unit, and the devices are linked by both power and control cables. Together, they form a single system.

Development Based on Customer Needs
Fimet began developing an independent cabinet suction unit in response to customer needs. Not all manufacturers include a cabinet-mounted suction system in their product range. Another common need for an independent suction system arises during surgical procedures where the dental unit is a cart-based model. In these cases, suction is still required and must be purchased separately.
Existing market solutions are often wall-mounted stands with poor ergonomics. They also lack an integrated suction disinfection feature.

The Fimet Cabinet Suction
The Fimet Cabinet Suction solves these and many other challenges. Its telescopic suction arm, mounted on a cabinet or sturdy stand, offers excellent reach and user comfort. The Cabinet Suction is available in three configurations: for wet suction systems, for dry suction with an amalgam separator, and as a version with an integrated automatic suction disinfection system.
With the automatic disinfection feature, the user does not need to perform any cleaning tasks. The automation handles everything except replacing the disinfection fluid bag. Depending on use, the bag needs replacement every two to three months.
The unit is a fully independent MDR Class I device with its own power switch. It can be used with any dental unit. For Fimet dental units, on/off control from the dental unit is included as standard.

Installation and Maintenance
Installation and annual maintenance are simple. The preassembled product package is placed in the cabinet and connected to the power supply, central suction line, and drain. The automatic disinfection version also requires a water connection. Maintenance of the amalgam separator is fast, as service parts can be replaced with the unit lifted onto a table. This design saves time and reduces costs during every maintenance cycle.
