Aesthetic Dentistry as an Additional Revenue Stream – Case DoniDent
Published 18.09.2026

There is demand for aesthetic dentistry, but patients do not always know what to ask for or what could be done to improve their smile. There may be several treatment options available, but it can be difficult to understand their benefits through conversation alone.
At DoniDent, this led to a simple question:
How can the possibilities of aesthetic dentistry be made visible and understandable to patients without actively “selling” treatment?
The solution consisted of two elements: communication in the waiting room and visualisation in the treatment room.

Making treatment possibilities visible in the waiting room
Together with DoniDent, we created a short multimedia presentation for the large screen in the clinic’s reception area. It shows before-and-after examples of different aesthetic treatments together with example prices.
Patients have already arrived at the clinic and typically spend a few minutes waiting for their appointment. During that time, they can see examples of what modern aesthetic dentistry can achieve.
The aim is not to persuade every patient to choose aesthetic treatment, but to make the available possibilities visible. For some patients, seeing a before-and-after example is enough to raise a question:
“Could something like this be done for my teeth?”
The camera continues the conversation in the treatment room
DoniDent uses three Fimet Neo Ceiling dental treatment units. One of them is equipped with a G.Comm Iris View operating light with an integrated camera.
The Iris View was originally purchased for surgical work. Its detailed image and zoom capabilities help Doni see small details and document treatments. He also uses the camera in prosthetic treatment, shade selection and when showing patients their own dental situation.
In practice, Doni says the biggest business impact has come from aesthetic dentistry.

The camera allows him to show patients their own teeth on a large screen and discuss treatment possibilities visually. Instead of trying to describe a change in tooth shape, a gap between teeth or a possible shade adjustment, the dentist and patient can look at the same image together.
“With the camera, I can easily show patients what could be done to their teeth. Even something like choosing a shade can be done together with the patient when we can see it clearly on the screen.”
The patient no longer has to imagine what the dentist is describing. The starting point is their own teeth, visible in front of them. Doni also uses the camera in preventive care. Sometimes showing a patient a detailed image of their teeth or gums is enough to make the situation much easier to understand.

Previously, DoniDent carried out comparable aesthetic treatments for approximately one patient per week. Today, the figure has increased to around 4–5 patients per week.
“We could do considerably more if there were more availability in the appointment schedule.”
The clinic did not introduce a new treatment to achieve this growth. DoniDent already had the clinical expertise to provide these treatments. What changed was how the treatment possibilities were presented to patients.
When does the investment start paying for itself?
The Iris View camera light costs several thousand euros.
When we calculated the financial impact together with DoniDent, based on the increase in aesthetic treatments, the estimated payback period was approximately three months.
This estimate is based on DoniDent’s own patient volumes, treatment mix and pricing, so the result will naturally vary from clinic to clinic. For Doni, however, the camera has become more than a clinical tool. It has also helped the clinic make better use of services and expertise it already had.

“Why has no one suggested this to me before?”
According to Doni, one of the most common reactions from patients after aesthetic treatment has been surprisingly simple:
“Why has no one ever suggested something like this to me before?” Patients cannot ask about treatment options they do not know exist. When those possibilities are presented clearly and visually, patients can better understand their options and decide for themselves whether a treatment is relevant to them. For DoniDent, the clinical expertise and treatment options were already there. The difference was making those possibilities easier for patients to see and understand.
